QBE MI Asia is a gold sponsor of Habitat for Humanity’s Tai O Restoration Project.
Tai O is a historic fishing village on the southwest coast on Hong Kong’s Lantau Island.
The area has many 200 year-old stilt houses. Almost one-third of the 2,000 residents of Tai O are elderly “fishing people” who are descendents of Hong Kong’s first settlers. Many residents live in dangerous conditions. Their stilt homes are susceptible to floods, typhoons, landslides, pollution and the effects of a low quality sewerage system.
As a Gold Sponsor, QBE MI Asia is helping to restore five stilt homes and preserve and revitalise the Tai O community.
